Fraud Handler – Exciting Opportunity!
Fully office based 9am – 5pm, Mon – Fri at our brand-new Chelmsford offices.

Direct Commercial are specialist commercial motor insurers with an award-winning Claims team. Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has become available for a Fraud Handler.
About the Role:
As a Fraud Handler, you will play a crucial role in identifying and managing suspected fraudulent claims. You will use your investigative skills to analyse claims against fraud indicators, ensuring all aspects of a third-party claim are thoroughly examined from notification to conclusion. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for fraud prevention, claims management, and delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate claims flagged for potential fraud, carrying out thorough assessments and making data-driven decisions.
- Proactively manage suspected fraudulent claims from start to finish, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Utilise fraud management software and investigative tools to assess and handle cases effectively.
- Accurately value injury claims, including associated losses such as loss of earnings and care.
- Collaborate with legal experts, auditors, and external fraud prevention agencies to refine fraud detection strategies.
- Maintain and exceed customer expectations by handling claims in a professional and timely manner.
- Compile fraud statistics and reports to track trends and enhance our fraud prevention measures.
- Identify personal training needs and seek development opportunities to enhance performance.
- Support change initiatives and continuously contribute to improving fraud prevention tactics within the team.
What We’re Looking For:
- In-depth awareness of fraud tactics, including identification, validation, and handling of fraudulent claims.
- Strong knowledge of fraud indicators, as well as an understanding of the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) and Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED).
- Extensive knowledge of the Road Traffic Act and the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB).
- Understanding of Small, Multi, and Fast Track litigation processes, including MOJ/OIC protocols.
- Experience investigating and negotiating liability disputes, credit hire, and property damage claims.
- Strong ability to assess general damages and manage multiple workstreams while working under tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- A minimum of 12 months’ experience in fraud detection, claims handling, or a related role.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
