Thorough investigation results in reduced settlement
The Claim
Our insured vehicle drove around a corner and lost control, colliding with three cars and a Third Party property. The Third Party was adamant that the entire wall would need to be replaced and that they would have to close the business for two months, claiming £22,900 for related costs.
The Results
It was initially unclear on the damage to the structure itself so we removed the cladding and identified re-existing damage to the corner of the property and used Google Maps to confirm that no repairs were carried out to the previous damage.
The Third Party was adamant that there were internal repairs carried out to any pre-existing damage, we requested evidence of this. The Third Party was unable to provide sufficient evidence so we removed this from the scope of the claim.
After discussion with the Third Party we agreed an appropriate settlement for the damaged caused by the incident in question, achieving a reduced settlement and saving of £15,875.
