The nominations keep coming – we have been named a finalist at the British Insurance Awards 2026 for Claims Initiative of the Year.

This recognition celebrates our commitment to delivering outstanding claims outcomes for brokers and commercial motor clients, even against the backdrop of unprecedented claims inflation and market pressure.

Turning Claims Challenges into Client Value

The commercial motor market has faced extraordinary strain in recent years. Rising repair costs, labour shortages, increasing vehicle complexity and escalating credit hire expenses have driven claims inflation across the sector. In some cases pushing businesses to breaking point.

Rather than allowing these pressures to dictate outcomes, we tackled these elements head-on with a proactive strategy.

We turned inflationary pressures into an opportunity to strengthen broker relationships and support clients - educating policyholders to improve roadside reporting and reduce incident notification times.

Key elements of our approach include:

  • End-to-end in-house claims handling, giving us maximum control, expertise and accountability
  • Priority First Notification of Loss (FNOL) via a 24/7 claims helpline, supported by policyholder education to reduce reporting delays
  • Telematics and dashcam integration, feeding instant video evidence directly into our claims platform to speed up liability decisions and fraud checks
  • Rigorous third-party cost control, reducing credit hire and repair expenses
  • Transparent communication, with real-time claim updates through our proprietary broker portal

Collaboration That Delivers Results

A standout part of our initiative is our emphasis on collaboration.

DCL is the only UK insurer to consistently bring brokers and policyholders face‑to‑face with our claims teams. Why? Because real conversations drive better outcomes. We don’t sit behind processes; we get around the table to review performance, challenge outcomes and spot opportunities to do even better.

And the results speak for themselves. In 2025 alone, we:

  • Reviewed 26,764 claims
  • Completed 2,155 claims listings
  • Held 476 structured meetings
  • Hosted two national Claims Clinics, driving education and best practice across our network
