This week, we helped the local charity we partner with, the Little Edi Foundation, put on their summer scheme that is now in its third successful year!
The Little Edi Foundation is an Essex based non-profit, listening to the needs of the most vulnerable children and families in our area. They believe all children should have equal access to education and learning development, enabling them to reach their full potential. To achieve this, they listen to the needs of local vulnerable families and help where necessary. This may be by giving aid, including fresh food, toys, school equipment and uniform or by creating development opportunities for disadvantaged young people in Essex.
One of these development opportunities is their summer scheme which is entirely free of charge to attend and provides a full week of activities for local children aged between 4 and 12. It offers the perfect opportunity for them to make new friends and have fun during the school holidays. Activities included arts and crafts, sports sessions, and animal petting, plus, all transport and food is provided.
Plenty of willing volunteers and young helpers, many of whom had been involved in the scheme themselves in previous summers, helped the week run without a hitch!
This year, DCL also sponsored the prize for the ‘Guess the weight of the pony’ competition, with the winning guess being awarded 4 tickets to this year’s Olympia Horse Show in December.
Our CEO, Phil Cunningham, has spoken previously of his passion for the charity stating, “They’re all local volunteers looking out for families that need help and they’ve made such a difference in the Chelmsford area and beyond.”
So, to everyone at the Little Edi Foundation, a huge well done for putting on a fantastic week of activities!
