Following consistent award wins over the last 2 years, DCL enjoyed their largest accolade to date last night, 10th July 2019, being crowned ‘MGA of the Year 2019’ at the prestigious 25th anniversary of the British Insurance Awards. The event, held at the amazing Royal Albert Hall, saw the industry’s finest all come together under one roof.

Acknowledged for investing in staff through the DCL academy and use of technology in products with Camatics, a very delighted CEO, Phil Cunningham collected the award.

Now trading for nearly two decades, DCL continue to offer innovative and sustainable commercial motor insurance and have seen written premium more than double in the last 2 years as other markets fail or withdraw from certain sectors of business. Mr Cunningham said ‘What an absolutely fantastic result; the cost effective MGA model and commitment to specialism has been a key to our success and we intend to continue to build on our achievements to date. Through the DCL Academy we will ensure we are future proofed and have staff that can help us deliver on our goals going forward.’

DCL write motor fleet for the majority of trades but core appetite remains to be Haulage, Couriers and Waste & Recycling risks. Along side bespoke policy wordings, the DCL T20 (a 3 year premium stability plan) also continues to grow in popularity as clients seek to protect their cash flow for the near future.

In addition to fleet, Haul in One (HIO) continues to gain momentum as concern surrounding the solvency of other carriers increases across the market. DCL’s online portal for NCD rated individual and multivehicle risks (up to 10) is increasingly being seen as a more secure alternative. With the ability to offer intro discounts, any licenced driver options, European use and trailer cover, the quick and easy online platform gives brokers the edge on higher premium and some more unusual occupations. Michael Dickinson, Head of Schemes said ‘It’s great to have so many brokers getting in touch and being able to utilise HIO to win business. We are regularly securing risks via the platform with premium spends in excess of £40,000 and our ability to accommodate clients needs if their business should grow, rather than need to cancel because they have gotten too big, seems to go down well with our broker partners’. HIO can accommodate Vans, Lorries, Tippers, Tankers and Car Transporters in any combination.

DCL are very much open for business and welcome agency enquiries. Get in touch via our website at https://directcommercial.co.uk
