Established in 2002, DCL has evolved over the years and is now pleased to be able to offer a portfolio of commercial motor products both for Carraig Insurance Company and Great Lakes Insurance SE (A+ rating with A.M Best).
From a modest beginning, DCL has grown significantly and now writes in excess of £120million gross premium in the UK & Ireland.
As an MGA (Managing General Agent), DCL operates to fulfil the role of an insurer and are delighted to have been recognised as ‘Insurer of the Year’ at the CIR Commercial Insurance Awards and also achieving ’MGA of the Year’ at the British Insurance Awards’. MGA’s are considered by many a more modern and cost effective structure for transacting insurance in an efficient and sustainable manner. At DCL we believe that our specialism in commercial motor, alongside the virtues of the MGA model has allowed us to become one of the modern day market leaders in our chosen field.
Our CEO, Phil Cunningham, remains the driving force behind the business. Phil comes from a family of underwriters all with a specialty in commercial motor insurance. DCL is one of the few markets, for the best part of two decades, to have consistently written Haulage, Courier & Waste Industry business in addition to other occupations that many other insurers simply don’t understand. We intend to continue to write business in an innovative and sustainable way so as to deliver positive results for our Insurer partners, Brokers & Clients.
Towards the beginning of 2017, as part of our structured growth, it was decided to create our own internal claims team, bucking the trend of many others in the market place who had started to outsource this vitally important process. The results have been dramatic and our claims team, who prefer to be considered as a customer service team who deal with claims, have either won, or been shortlisted consistently at industry awards and Customer Service awards every year since they were established. We work closely with our brokers and clients to tailor the service offered and work hard to mitigate costs and fight fraud at any given opportunity.
