DCL has a rich pedigree in writing fleet business with our CEO, Phil Cunningham coming from a family of underwriting professionals. Our business is built on writing Commercial Motor Insurance in an innovative and sustainable way.
Our product portfolio has expanded over the last 17 years but our standard fleet contract is still able to accommodate the majority of risks and provide specialist cover to fulfil our clients’ business needs.
Key features of the DCL Commercial Fleet policy include but are not limited to:
- Annual Green Cards
- Tipping risks
- Trailer Cover
- Flexible driver warranties
Our standard policy can also accommodate clients with mild exposure to the carriage of ADR categorised goods (see our Wasteline policy for our policy tailored to those operating the carriage of hazardous goods).
All of our fleet quotes are rated by an underwriter working out of our Lime Street offices in London; our new business team is positioned in the heart of the City right opposite Lloyd’s. Whilst we do not normally offer exclusive quotes we do ordinarily only offer 1 quote to the market per risk.
Our underwriting is conducted off the back of a formal submission from our broker partners. This traditional approach accentuates the personal service we provide to our network and we place great value in forging strong levels of communication with those who embrace working with us.
Our target trades include Haulage, Couriers & Waste sector clients and we prefer to write risks with stronger than average rates per vehicle.
Overall we expect risks to have earned at least 3 years fleet rated experience in order for us to consider them although in certain circumstances we may consider those with less experience if the rating is adequate.
We will NOT quote new ventures or NCD risks looking to convert to fleet.
Please see our Appetite section available via the About Us tab for more information on trades we have had success with or those we cannot quote.
If you are in any doubt as to whether a risk may suit DCL please contact your local Business Development Manager or call the London office.
